BEST IN THEIR CLASS HOTEL VENUES
Bangkok’s five-star hotels are renowned the world over for their high quality of service and facilities, and for their reasonable accommodation rates.
The quality and inventiveness of the hotel restaurant outlets is also a remarkable feature that helps in the success of the industry, both amongst overseas visitors and local residents.
This month, therefore, we decided to visit some of the most outstanding hotel venues that offer a top quality dining-out experience.
For a Sunday brunch, Next2 Cafe at the Shangri-La is unbeatable amongst the brunch outlets, partly because of the huge array of food available, and partly because of the setting, right there on the banks of the river.
Speaking of the river, Banyan Tree has a magnificent way to enjoy it with the Apsara Dinner Cruise aboard a converted rice barge, an upscale experience with excellent Thai food.
The Silk Road, at The Athenee Hotel, has newly reopened after a six-month closure for complete remodelling, and now prepares Cantonese cuisine that has its roots in tradition yet presents exciting new interpretations.
Hishou, at the new Hotel Nikko opened only a few months ago, and as befits a Japanese-operated hotel presents impeccable Japanese cuisine, with an emphasis on tempura.
On Sukhumvit, at The Landmark, Rib Room & Bar was one of the very first hotel-top restaurants, having opened in 1987, and remains every bit as original and superb today as it did then.
We are soon to be out of the rainy season, so let’s look forward to a few months of dry weather ahead!
