STARS OF ITALIAN CUISINE
The Italian banner waves at us in Bangkok with the green of pesto, the white of Parmesan, and the red richness of tomato-based sauces. Italian cuisine is one of the city’s most popular dining styles, and amongst the huge number of Italian restaurants are some real star names.
This month, we bring you a selection of top-notch restaurants that have been upholding the highest standards and consequently have enjoyed continuing success over the years.
We visited Enoteca, which is headed by proprietor Nicola Bonazza and which has been flourishing for over fourteen years. At Appia, the Roman trattoria headed by Roman native Paolo Vitaletti, we sampled real home cooking.
We called in to see Luca Appino at La Bottega di Luca, a restaurant that has just celebrated its tenth birthday, and at La Casa Nostra we met up again with Nino Scognamillo, who oversees the culinary operations.
And yes, we also stopped by at an old, old favourite in the Anantara Siam, Biscotti, which was instrumental in sparking the taste for fine Italian dining so many years ago and which thrives today under Chef Andrea Buson.
