summary : Anantara Spa is an opulent escape from the capital's hustle and bustle with carefully crafted treatment journeys for optimum wellbeing that lavishes you with personal attention.

Traditional Thai architecture that evokes a feeling of harmony with nature and exotic aromas to soothe the senses is what Anantara Spa at Anantara Siam Bangkok is all about. Located on the 2nd floor of the hotel, the spa delivers experiences that are memorable, providing a santuary of privacy and tranquility to exhilarate guests on their sensory journey. Although the reception area is compact compared to other hotel spa's in the city, it certainly exudes warmth; cold bael tea was offered as the assistant spa manager informed us of the treatment we would be having and we filled up a short form to ensure that our needs will be met during the experience. We were placed in the couples' suite which featured a shower and a Roman-style tub, a grand space with two spa beds and a spacious sitting area.

On our visit we tried two of their signature spa experiences, the Himalayan Thermal Therapy and the Siam Massage; both of these treatments commenced with a foot cleansing ritual and were a 90-minute session. The Himalayan Thermal Therapy is a Himalayan salt stone massage that relaxes as it balances the central nervous system, it has changed the typical hot stone massage to a truly therpeutic treatment. Moreover, pure Himalayan pink salt stones contain 84 naturally occuring minerals and salts that replenishes the body and are naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial. The massage integrates the philosophies of Eastern medicine, Swedish massage, thermal therapy and salt therapies to create an array of benefits that can increase blood circulation, reduce inflammation, improve sleep and deep relaxation, and restore depleted minerals to the skin which will soften and moisturize it.

The other treatmet was Siam 2482 which uses Thai stretching and pressure point techniques to enhance flexibility and energy flow. The bamboo sticks are used as an extension of the therapist's hands which enables the therapist to find tension and dissolve knots and trigger points along with the massage oil. This technique was quite enjoyable and promoted a feeling of being energized as well as revitalized and allowed for the pressure to be adjusted, making deep-tissue work easy. Aside from relieving tension, this massage is also known to improve the texture of the skin; the silica from the bamboo extract aids your body in absorbing essential minerals such as potassium, calcium and magnesium. The bamboo cane replaces the hand of the therapist giving a deeper, firmer massage; the stimulation of the tissue by the bamboo stick helps in getting relief by dissipating the heat that results from an accumulation of toxins and poor circulation. The muscle is kneaded, which assists in the release of tension and easing of knots. The massage relieves the body of stiffness and increases lymphatic draining as it helps to remove toxins from the body and encourages the body's natural healing abilities.

If you are looking for a spa experience that would have you feeling good for the next couple of days look no further and choose a program that best caters to your need; I woke up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!
