About: Anantara Siam formerly known as Four Seasons is an upscale destination in the midst of the city facing the Royal Bangkok Sports Club and only 10 minutes walk from Siam Shopping Malls. The iconic hotel offers award-winning gastronomy from Royal Thai cuisine, Italian, Japanese and Steakhouse. There is something for everyone and every mood to satisfy. The Aqua bar is located on the ground floor in a courtyard turned into a tropical garden with a koi-pond. Aqua bar is an all-day dining destination offering crafted concoctions and rare whiskeys. Every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night, guests can enjoy live DJ sets.
Decor: The laidback vibe of Aqua bar immediately puts you at ease amidst the foliage in the hotel’s courtyard, Parichart Court. Wooden tables face the bar where mixologists prepare meticulously crafted signature cocktails.
Menu: Aqua bar is very popular in the evening where locals come after work to relax, enjoying nibbles from all around the world and drinking some hard to find whiskeys or signature cocktails plus smoke cigars from the adjacent Character Cigar shop. For the drinks, we started with an easy to drink cocktail, Aqua Fabulicious (420 baht) made from Hendricks gin, elderflower liqueur, citric acid, cherry blossom and cucumber bitters. The cocktail is served in a diamond shaped glass. For a sweet and sour choice, Above the Cloud (380 baht), is another favorite cocktail mixed with citrus vodka and violet liqueur with a hint of citrus and rosemary. If you are a G&T addict, you will be pleased to taste the newly unveiled Origin gin crafted by Minor for Anantara exclusively. This is a unique curated botanical Gin blended in Thailand's northern province of Chiang Mai that includes lemongrass. This is a smooth, floral gin that goes down easily. The G&T is mixed with Origin Gin, Fever tonic water, garnished with pomegranate and lemongrass.
When it comes to food, you can choose between the menu of 5 different restaurant outlets. The food menu at Aqua features bites from all around the world with street food highlights from Pulled Chicken Tacos (320 baht), Poh Pia Sod (370 baht) to Lamb Kofta (390 baht). We chose the Lobster Roll (560 baht) that can be eaten alone or shared, a good quality lobster encased in a soft bread. For a fresh and light appetizer pick the vegetable Vietnamese Spring Rolls served with a sweet chili sauce (310 baht) from the lobby menu. Another favorite for a light meal Tataki Tuna with tiny green leaves, blue cheese, walnuts and lemon oil vinaigrette (460 baht). Pizza fans can try the best-seller Burrata and Parma Ham pizza (890 baht) from the award-winning Italian restaurant, Biscotti. For dessert, look at the menu from Madison, the lemon cake served with thyme ice cream and strawberries marinated in limoncello is utterly delicious.
Evaluation: Forget about the posh and tight atmosphere of a 5 star hotel bar. Aqua Bar is as far the opposite of the opulent and instead offers a chilled and relaxed ambience inside the hotel courtyard. The appealing menu and awe-inspired cocktails with premium spirits makes it a good place to hangout in the heart of Bangkok. As for the price, expect a high class tab.
